The Colony has a fulltime Activities Director who engages with residents and creates a variety of programs, social events, activities and trips for the enjoyment of the members of the community.  Numerous clubs also offer fun and educational social interactions.  Everyone is welcome to join the activities that interest them.

Murrieta Area

The city of Murrieta is located in Southwest Riverside County. It is adjacent to Temecula, and in close proximity to San Diego County. With the conveniences of local retailers, great dining and entertainment, historic Downtown Murrieta, and Temecula Wine Country all just minutes away; The Colony at California Oaks location offers residents plenty of things to do.


If you want to enjoy the  picturesque Southern California lifestyle, the  City of Murrieta has over 52 parks, (two of which are dog parks), and over 25-miles of trails for walkers, runners, bikers and others to enjoy. The City is also home to the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Preserve, which is a 9,000-acre nature and wildlife conservation area with varying terrain and habitats, open trails and a visitor center.  


With average temperatures ranging from 80 degrees during the day to 50 degrees at night, you can find many ways to enjoy being outdoors.  If you like to golf, there are several Colony golf groups you can join and enjoy The California Oaks Golf Course  located adjacent to the community.


 The City of Murrieta is among the safest cities in Riverside County and one of the few with its own Police and Fire Departments. For healthcare services, there are five hospitals in Murrieta, that contract with numerous participating medical groups and doctors. 


According to the 2022 Community Demographic Profile, Murrieta is a thriving community with a growing population, which has increased during the last decade by over 14% to an estimated 118,734 in 2022. Also, 26% of the population is over 55 years old and the average age of the residents is 38.1 years old.  More than 30% of Murrieta’s residents have a bachelor’s or advanced degree.   The average household income is $134,170 and the per capita income is $41,184.
